Alexander technique (AT) is a way of managing symptoms for people with Parkinson's.

While dance or exercise programs offer satisfying and necessary periods of choreographed, aerobic or strengthening movement, AT works directly with cognition to teach new ways of thinking about organizing movement while carrying out exercise or during daily activities away from class.

Learn about this practical self-management method to improve and, as much as possible, restore functional movement patterns.

Learn how people with Parkinson’s can gain expertise to carry out activities with greater confidence and minimal interference from PD symptoms.

Family members and other care partners can benefit themselves from these stress management skills, as well as serve as supportive partners in their loved ones’ continued application of these principles.

AT classes are an integral part of the Edmund J Safra Parkinsons Wellness Program in NYC administered through the JCC/Langone Hospital.

AT is being adopted by Parkinsons Alberta in Edmonton Canada as a one-to-one and group intervention for people with Parkinson's.
